도촌동에 놀러갔다가 맛있는 양꼬치집이 있다 해서 가보았다.
(I heard there was a great lamb skewer place in Dochon-dong, so I decided to check it out.)
저녁 6시가 되기도 전인데 이미 앞에 두 팀이나 대기를 하고 있었다.
(Before it was even 6 PM, there were already two groups waiting ahead of us.)
대기 인원도 많고 거의 이제 식사를 시작한 거라 오래 기다려야 할 것 같았지만, 맛있는 곳에서 맛있게 먹고 싶어서 기다리기로 했다.
(It looked like a long wait, but we decided to stick it out — good food is worth waiting for.)
매장 분위기 (First Impressions)
입구부터 양꼬치집 분위기가 물씬 풍겼다.
(The vibe of a proper lamb skewer restaurant hit us the moment we walked up.)
빨간 어닝 위로 한성양꼬치 간판이 보였고, 저녁 시간임에도 자리가 꽉 차 있었다.
(The red awning and the sign overhead made it easy to spot, and every seat inside was already taken.)
테이블에 앉으니 숙주볶음, 통마늘, 짜사이, 땅콩볶음 등 기본 찬을 먼저 세팅해줬고, 이어서 숯불을 넣어줬다.
(Once seated, they set out the banchan first — stir-fried bean sprouts, whole garlic, zha cai, and peanuts — then got the charcoal grill going.)
반찬이 모두 맛있었지만 특히 숙주볶음이 기억에 남았다.
(Everything was good, but the stir-fried bean sprouts especially stayed with me.)
아삭하고 간이 잘 밴 숙주볶음을 꼬치 사이사이에 먹으니 입안을 환기시켜 주는 역할을 톡톡히 해줬다.
(Crisp and perfectly seasoned, they worked as a great palate cleanser between bites of skewer.)
숙주 때문에 양꼬치를 추가 주문하게 된다는 리뷰를 봤었는데, 직접 먹어보고 나서야 그 말이 바로 이해됐다. (I'd seen reviews saying the bean sprouts make you order more skewers — now I totally get it.)
메뉴판 (So Many Choices)
벽면에 가득 붙어있는 메뉴판에는 양꼬치 외에도 중화식 요리들이 다양하게 적혀 있었다.
(The wall-mounted menu was packed with options beyond just lamb skewers — lots of Chinese-style dishes too.)
메뉴판을 보니 선택지가 너무 많아서 고민이 됐다.
(There were so many choices it was genuinely hard to decide.)
테이블 위 숯불 그릴을 보니 일단 꼬치류는 무조건 시켜야 했고, 요리 메뉴들도 하나씩 눈에 들어왔다.
(One look at the charcoal grill and we knew skewers were non-negotiable — but the side dishes kept catching our eye too.)
결국 다섯 가지를 한꺼번에 주문했다.
(We ended up ordering five dishes all at once.)

▷ 양갈비살꼬치 (A Must-Order Every Single Time)
향신료가 뿌려진 날고기 상태로 꼬치가 나왔다.
(The skewers came out raw, dusted with spices, ready to grill yourself.)
기다란 꼬치에 살코기가 넉넉하게 꽂혀 있었고, 직접 숯불에 올려 구워 먹는 방식이었다.
(Each long skewer was loaded with generous chunks of meat, grilled right there over the charcoal.)
숯불이 꽤 강해서 빠르게 익었고, 구워지면서 향신료의 고소하고 이국적인 향이 진하게 올라왔다.

겉은 살짝 바삭하고 속은 촉촉한 식감이 일품이었다.

살꼬치는 여기만한 곳이 없다는 말이 왜 나오는지 한 입 먹자마자 이해가 됐다.

통새우를 껍질째 마른 고추, 땅콩, 통마늘과 함께 볶아낸 요리였다.
(Whole shrimp, shell-on, stir-fried with dried chilies, peanuts, and whole garlic cloves.)
비주얼부터 먹음직스러웠다.
(It looked amazing before we even tasted it.)
보기엔 엄청 맵고 자극적으로 느껴졌는데, 막상 먹어보니 얼얼한 향라 소스와 고소한 땅콩이 조화를 이뤄 많이 맵지 않고 계속 손이 갔다.
(It looked fiery and intimidating, but the numbing spice and nutty peanuts balanced each other out perfectly — not too hot, just addictive.)
새우도 통통하고 껍질째 씹는 식감이 재미있었다.
(The shrimp were plump, and eating them shell-on gave a satisfying crunch.)
이건 내가 거의 다 먹은 것 같다.
(I'm pretty sure I ate most of this one myself.)
▷ 가지튀김볶음 (Hidden Gem on the Menu)
튀긴 가지를 볶아낸 요리로 양꼬치집의 숨은 인기 메뉴였다.
(Fried eggplant tossed in a savory sauce — a quietly beloved dish at this restaurant.)
가지가 튀겨진 뒤 볶아져 나와서 겉은 살짝 바삭하고 속은 부드러웠다.
(The eggplant was fried then stir-fried, so the outside had a light crispness while the inside stayed silky soft.)
간이 잘 배어 있어서 꼬치랑 같이 먹으면 느끼함을 잡아주는 역할을 해줬다.
(Well-seasoned and rich in flavor, it cut through the heaviness of the grilled meat perfectly.)
가지볶음 때문에 다시 방문하고 싶다는 리뷰가 많던데 먹어보니 그 말이 이해됐다.

▷ 꿔바로우 (Crispy, Sweet, and Satisfying)
바삭하게 튀긴 돼지고기에 새콤달콤한 소스를 곁들인 꿔바로우였다.

큼직하게 나와서 가위로 먹기 좋게 잘라 먹었다.
(It came out in big pieces, so we used scissors to cut it into bite-sized chunks.)
탕수육과 비슷하지만 더 바삭하고 고기 두께감이 있었고, 양도 넉넉해서 여럿이 나눠 먹기에 딱이었다.
(Similar to tangsuyuk but crispier and thicker — and the portion was generous enough to share around the table.)
▷ 온면 (A Surprising Finish)
온면도 꼭 맛봐야 한다 해서 일행이 주문했다.
(Someone in our group had heard the onmyeon was a must-try, so we ordered it.)
나왔을 때 생김새는 김치찌개 같았는데, 막상 먹어보니 처음 맛보는 맛이었다.
(When it arrived it looked just like kimchi jjigae, but the taste was something entirely new.)
뭔가 익숙한 듯 익숙하지 않은 맛이라 신기했고, 다음에 방문하면 또 주문할 것 같다.
(Familiar yet unfamiliar — it was a strange and wonderful feeling, and we'll definitely be ordering it again next time.)
맥주 (Beer)
양꼬치에는 역시 중국 맥주가 제격이었다.
(When it comes to lamb skewers, Chinese beer is the perfect match.)
깔끔하고 가벼운 맛이 기름진 꼬치와 잘 어울렸고, 숯불 앞에서 마시는 차가운 맥주 한 잔이 이 자리를 더 완벽하게 만들어줬다. (Light and crisp, it paired perfectly with the rich smoky skewers — a cold beer in front of a charcoal grill made the whole experience complete.)
총평 (Final Verdict)
웨이팅이 있어도 충분히 기다릴 가치가 있는 곳이었다.

맛, 가성비, 서비스, 분위기 어느 것 하나 빠지는 게 없었다.

숯불에 직접 굽는 살꼬치의 맛, 향라대하의 중독적인 맛, 가지튀김볶음의 부드러운 감칠맛에 서비스로 나오는 숙주볶음까지 시킨 메뉴마다 만족스러웠다.
