지난 일요일, 1박 2일 강화도 가족여행 마지막 날 늦은 아침을 먹고 오전 11시쯤 메타포레스트 카페를 방문했다.
(Last Sunday, after a late breakfast on the final day of a today family trip to Ganghwa Island, we visited Metaforest Cafe around 11am.)
토요일은 꽤 쌀쌀했는데 이날은 완연한 봄 날씨라 따뜻하고 화창했다.
(Saturday had been quite chilly, but this day felt like full-on spring — warm and sunny.)
무엇보다 우리는 대인원 12명이 함께한 가족 모임이었는데, 야외 공간이 넓어서 불편함 없이 편하게 이야기를 나눌 수 있었다.
(Above all, we were a large group of 12, and the spacious outdoor area made it easy to sit and talk comfortably.)
온실 같은 실내 공간 (Greenhouse-like Interior)
실내는 방문 후기 사진에서 보다시피 식물로 가득 차 있었다.
(The interior was packed with plants, just as seen in other visitors' photos.)
몬스테라, 야자나무류, 알로카시아 등 다양한 열대 식물들이 빼곡하게 자리 잡고 있어 마치 온실 안에 앉아 있는 기분이 들었다.
(Monstera, palms, alocasia and various tropical plants filled every corner, giving the feeling of sitting inside a greenhouse.)
천장이 높고 대형 유리창으로 햇빛이 쏟아지는 구조라 실내임에도 개방감이 있었다.
(With high ceilings and large glass windows flooding the space with sunlight, it felt open and airy despite being indoors.)
키오스크 주문 & 셀프 베이커리 코너 (Kiosk Order & Self-Service Bakery Corner)
주문은 키오스크를 통해 하면 된다.
(Orders are placed through a self-service kiosk.)
1인 1음료 주문이며 빵은 제외이고, 유아동은 예외라고 안내되어 있었다.
(One drink per person is required, excluding bread, with young children exempt according to the notice.)
빵은 쟁반에 먼저 담은 후 키오스크에서 결제하는 방식이었는데, 방문 당시 사람이 많지 않아 카운터에서 직접 도와주셨다.
(Bread is picked up on a tray first and then paid for at the kiosk, though the staff helped us at the counter since it wasn't busy.)
경찰, 군인, 소방관은 음료 30% 할인 혜택을 받을 수 있으니 해당되는 분들은 꼭 챙기시길 바란다.
(Police officers, military personnel, and firefighters can receive a 30% discount on drinks — definitely worth taking advantage of.)
베이커리는 소금빵, 크루아상, 에그타르트, 단호박빵 등 종류가 꽤 다양했고, 넉넉하게 진열되어 있어 고르는 재미도 있었다.
(The bakery offered a solid variety including salted bread, croissants, egg tarts, and pumpkin bread — all generously displayed and fun to browse.)
메뉴 & 가격 (Menu & Price)
가격대는 살짝 있는 편이었다.
(Prices are on the slightly higher side.)
아메리카노 8,000원, 아샷추 8,500원, 바닐라라떼 9,000원, 딸기라떼 8,500원, 카모마일오렌지 8,000원 선이었다.
(Americano ₩8,000, shot-added iced tea ₩8,500, vanilla latte ₩9,000, strawberry latte ₩8,500, chamomile orange ₩8,000.)
아이들을 위한 뽀로로 밀크맛 음료도 3,500원에 판매하고 있어 어린 자녀를 동반한 가족에게는 반가운 선택지였다.

빵도 빠질 수 없다

커피를 못 마시는 분들을 위한 천연 무설탕 웰빙주스도 판매 중이었다.

케일킹, 비트퀸, 망고하이, 캐롯파인 4종으로 구성되어 있었다.
(The lineup consists of four options — Kale King, Beet Queen, Mango Hi, and Carrot Pine.)
처음엔 가격이 좀 있네 싶었는데, 메타세쿼이아 숲과 넓은 정원을 자유롭게 산책할 수 있는 입장료가 음료값에 포함된 개념이라고 보면 딱히 비싸다는 느낌은 없었다.
(At first the prices seemed a bit steep, but considering that access to the metasequoia forest and spacious garden is essentially included, it didn't feel unreasonable at all.)
아이들이 더 좋아했던 숲길 산책 (Forest Walk the Kids Loved Even More)
방문 후기 사진으로 먼저 접했을 때는 울창한 메타세쿼이아 숲이 인상적이었는데, 방문한 날은 아직 초록이 올라오기 전이라 살짝 아쉬운 마음이 들기도 했다.
(The lush metasequoia forest in other visitors' photos had looked impressive, but on the day we visited the leaves hadn't fully come in yet, which was a slight disappointment.)
그래도 막상 와보니 "오길 잘했다"는 생각이 자연스럽게 드는 곳이었다.
(Even so, once we were there the feeling of "glad we came" came naturally.)
아이들이 특히 더 즐거워했던 건 실내보다 바깥이었다.
(The kids enjoyed the outdoors even more than the interior.)
숲길을 뛰어다니며 나무를 타는 청설모를 발견하고, 멀리서지만 고라니도 목격했다.
(Running through the forest path, they spotted a squirrel climbing a tree and even caught a glimpse of a roe deer in the distance.)
작은 호수에는 올챙이들이 가득해 아이들 눈이 동그래졌다.
(The small pond was full of tadpoles, and the kids' eyes went wide with delight.)
핸드폰 대신 자연 속에서 뛰어노는 모습을 보는 것만으로도 이곳에 온 이유가 충분했다.
(Just watching them play freely in nature instead of staring at their phones was reason enough to have come.)
총평 (Final Review)
메타세쿼이아 숲이 초록으로 가득한 여름이 인기 시즌인 건 분명하다.
(Summer, when the metasequoia forest is full and green, is clearly the most popular season.)
하지만 이른 봄의 모습도 나름의 매력이 있었다.
(But early spring had its own quiet charm.)
사람이 많지 않아 조용했고, 12명이 옹기종기 앉아 두런두런 이야기 나누기에 딱 좋은 분위기였다.
(It wasn't crowded, and the atmosphere was perfect for our group of 12 to sit together and chat leisurely.)
겨울은 또 겨울대로의 매력이 있을 것 같으니, 어느 계절에 와도 후회는 없을 것 같다는 생각이 들었다.
(Winter probably has its own appeal too — it feels like no season would disappoint here.)
주차 공간도 넉넉해 자차 방문에 부담이 없었다.
(Parking was also plentiful, making a car visit completely stress-free.)
강화도 여행 중 자연과 카페를 동시에 즐기고 싶다면 메타포레스트는 한 번쯤 꼭 들러볼 만한 곳인 것 같다.
